- Welcome to the New 700 Network
Thanks For Visiting The New 700 Network I've put some work into developing this site so that there would be a platform for all members and visitors to go to, to keep in touch with each other and keep up on our dynamically changing community. Coming soon there will also be a platform for you to leave comments publicly. This site has gone thru many revisions already and I never even finished the first draft. :) It makes me feel good that everyone is giving feedback of one type or another. I hope for this trend to continue on as we forge forward as a community. Having made the decision to host the Thursday night net's was not taken lightly. I knew that there would be a great deal of work ahead in order to keep things on track to a better radio community network. Input is Key I am making this statement so all in the community knows the reason behind all the changes. The end result of all the changes was after many conversations with other stations and listening to their suggestions and ideas. As the comments and ideas pour in I am considering all and acting on my gut feeling of what is going to be good for the community as we go forward. It's not what I want, but it is what each of you want to have in your community. This is why i ask each week for your comments and suggestions. In the background I've developed a system of procedure's and documentation that is shared with the other administrators, net controllers and key people so that in the event that I am not around or just simply want to take some time away, the net will have the ability to go on seamlessly regardless of what happens. I do not want to be known in the community or anywhere, as the "Voice of 700" or anything like that. I do not see the need to think we are competing against any network or be in some kind of imaginary popularity contest. I am here to keep our radio community together and engage all of you to do the same, and I keep in mind at each turn of the road that what's best for the community is what has to be considered first and foremost before a decision is made. This is your community and without all our station operators none of this would be possible. Please keep active and always give us your thoughts and ideas no matter how trivial or grand you may think they are. There is a lot of talent in this community which i am blessed to be a part of, so stay active on the air, answer a couple of stations requesting radio checks here and there, or maybe even help a visitor traveling thru the area. Don't be afraid to check in with the wife or girlfriend on the way home from work. Whatever you want to do is great [within the guidelines of the FCC of course] As I have always said, all stations and all networks are welcome join and participate. God Bless you all, and God bless the United States of America Russ, WRPB458 Net control

- Bum's, Creeps, Homeless in front of StoresIn General Discussion·August 22, 2023I have lived on the east side of the valley for over 26 years and i can't remember a time when i was disgusted to go to the local stores around here. Over the years i've watch the area slowly decay, infiltrated with homeless people who are nasty and disgusting, rude, and thieves. But yet our small neighborhood has managed to keep most of the crap out. You can actually pull in to the property and forget whats going on out their. We used to be nick named the oasis by metro because the amount of calls to the property were minimal. Something like 3 calls in 5 years. It's gone up since then but yet nothing dramatic. I know many people on the radio are retired law enforcement and a good number are active law enforcement. So with that said i am well aware of the challenges that face the police in this valley. My hat's off to law enforcement here you men and women have a set of brass balls bigger than anything i've ever seen. Just the notion of trying to combat the evil in this valley is so overwhelming to me i wouldn't want to be a cop here for all the tea in china. When i hear the other side of everything, the people who have been arrested or just out of jail etc., and they claim metro screwed them or used unsavery ways to arrest them, i ask...... well why were you in that position in the first place that you had to have a confrontation with the police? Think about this a bit. Had you not put yourself in a position that was questionable you would not have had to experience the hospitality of the police. Notice i say "YOU" quite often. It's because the cops don't just drive around and mess with people who aren't doing anything for shits and giggles. So to those of you who hang out in front of the 7/11's, gas stations, and parking lots of casinos constantly begging for money, go get a life asshole. I am sick and tired of going to a business and eveytime i get out of my vehicle i am approached by some dope head, drunk, or creep that askes me for a buck or can you spare any change? Unfortunately for those business's that allow this to continue in front of their stores i choose to go to a store where the freaks are not out front. I've often thought why the hell doesn't metro do something about this....? Well in further thought i have to see police dept's. view too. They don't have time for dealing with these creeps, because they are dealing with home invasions, shootings, muggings, stabbings and the like. My god what has las vegas turned into? So to all the business owners out there [I used to be one of them] get off your lazy ass and do something about the issue of these creeps on your private property. Don't be so damn cheap and hire a good security gaurd to deal with it or just use the plain old fashion way of throwing them off your property yourself. Don't tell me you don't have 5 or 10 buddies that you can round up and show these creeps their not wanted. Until someone does something i'll continue to go out of my way to business that don't allow this shit to continue. How can you sit there and do nothing? You need to grow a set of balls and protect your investment and your families future from these people.1133

- Getting to know meIn General Discussion·March 3, 2024Hello. I am the "other" Russ. I've lived in Las Vegas all my life (62) years. I worked for Clark County Parks on the maintenance side for 30 years. For most of that time I managed keeping the park's green and the lights on. I'm now semi retired. I've been doing handyman work for the past five years. I've been married for over forty years. I had three children and seven grandchildren. I got my ham Technician and GMRS license back in 2016 but got busy with other things and I'm just getting back into it again recently. I love classic cars and currently own a 1967 Cadillac Eldorado and take it to car shows. If anyone is interested in knowing about upcoming events feel free to hit me up. I also love NHRA drag racing and attend both National races here in the spring and fall. I'm also rooting for the Kansas City Chiefs to win the upcoming Super Bowl!0121
